How to Find Your Surf Level

Level 1 – YELLOW

Have you surfed before? Can you pop up in the white water and maintain a good surfing stance?

  • NO → This is your level: YELLOW
  • YES → You are ready for ORANGE

Level 2 – ORANGE

Can you catch waves without assistance and perform your take-off before the wave breaks?

  • NO → This is your level: ORANGE
  • YES → You are ready for RED

Level 3 – RED

Can you trim along the entire wave face?

  • NO → This is your level: RED
  • YES → You are ready for BLUE

Level 4 – BLUE

Can you generate speed and perform cutbacks?

  • NO → This is your level: BLUE — these are the skills you will develop at this stage
  • YES → You are ready for the next level

 

 

From 8 to 16 years old

Included : Softboard
 Description:

These lessons take place in the bay of the Cove, in the take-off zone, making full use of the wave potential this session can produce. The bay offers very accessible waves: low power, slow, knee-height (0.5m), perfect for beginner surfers to learn, practise and have fun in a safe and controlled environment.

 Leve 1 - YELLOW
Technique & Practice
  • Adaptation to the ocean environment and equipment
  • Paddling techniques and different levels of intensity
  • Controlling the board’s reaction in different situations
  • Performing a safe, smooth take-off in one fluid movement into the base position
  • Maintaining a balanced stance with proper weight distribution on the board
  • Having a correct surfing base position
  • Riding straight towards the beach
  • Frontside and backside turns (in the white water)
  • Performing the drop and take-off at the lip

General Knowledge & lineup Reading

  • Understanding the equipment used for surfing

Level 4 - Blue 

Technique & Practice

  • Maintaining good positioning in the lineup and using reference points for take-off
  • Having an efficient, fast, and explosive paddle both for entering waves and returning to the lineup
  • Maintaining a safe and effective base position and stance
  • Having a strong paddle approach, correct take-off positioning, and efficient wave entry
  • Performing a safe take-off and being able to angle the take-off on more tubular waves
  • Performing frontside and backside trimming from top to bottom while using high lines on the wave
  • Anticipating each turn and looking towards the intended direction or where the board should project
  • Performing cutbacks on softer sections of the wave
  • Executing bottom turns towards the lip and reentries to finish waves
  • Using duck dives when passing through breaking waves

  • Ensuring and consolidating all requirements from previous levels
  • Identifying the best take-off point and using reference points for proper positioning
  • Identifying the wave’s potential (power, size, and length)
